Tea for 50!
The Rutland will hold a special tea party next week in celebration of its new partnership with well-known Edinburgh brand eteaket, with all proceeds going to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.
eteaket Tea Boutique & Café deals in high-quality, ethically-sourced loose-leaf teas and infusions, and The Rutland now provides a wide range of these delicious teas in its restaurant, hotel and bar.
Erica Moore, owner of eteaket Tea Boutique & Café, says: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Rutland as it is an Edinburgh institution that has become one of the city’s top boutique hotels and restaurants, while eteaket is modernising the traditional tea room concept and providing great quality teas to a new audience so there is a shared ambition between the two of us.”
The tea party will feature The Rutland’s new range of delicious homemade cupcakes, freshly made on the premises each day, and takes place at Restaurant at the Rutland from 6pm – 8pm on Thursday 9 September. Guests will be entertained by soothing sounds from talented musician Andy Lucas.
Tickets cost £5 - including tea and a cupcake - and the full price will be donated to Maggie’s Edinburgh. There are currently five existing Maggie’s centres in Scotland – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Highlands and Fife – and an interim service in Lanarkshire. New centres are planned for Lanarkshire and a second centre in Glasgow.
It is hoped at least 50 Tea Party tickets will be snapped up, with initial sales going well.
Marion Taylor, Maggie’s Edinburgh Community Fundraiser, said: “I am really excited about the Tea Party at The Rutland as this is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for Maggie’s and one for which we are extremely grateful. This generous donation will enable us to continue providing information and support to people affected by cancer."
“Maggie’s is entirely funded by public donations which is where people can make a difference by choosing to buy a ticket and showing their support for this unique and highly enjoyable fundraising event. I look forward to seeing everyone there, and I can't wait to try the cupcakes!”
All teas on the night will be provided by Eteaket, with the Rutland’s pastry chef Amada Jordan whipping up dozens of batches of homemade cupcakes in preparation for the event.
Gillian Myles, Head of PR, Marketing and Sales for the Signature Pub Group, adds: “This is a new venture for us and a delicious one at that! We are delighted to be working with Eteaket as it is a great brand fit with The Rutland and we have a similar ethos of using only the best ingredients available. We look forward to welcoming guests for a relaxing evening in aid of a hugely worthwhile cause.”
